About Us

Springfield Central State High School offers students the opportunity to study languages throughout their schooling life. In year 7 and 8, students participate in the junior program which is designed to give students an introductory to the language and culture. In year 9 and 10, Japanese is an elective course where students begin to deepen their knowledge of the language and culture. In recent years, we have offered Senior Japanese to those students that wish to take their language studies into their final years of schooling.

In Japanese classes, students build a strong foundation knowledge of Japanese language and culture through exploring topics such as family, food, sports, fashion, entertainment, geography and basic biographical information to mention a few.

Students enhance their knowledge through applying their learning’s to real-life situations by having the opportunity to host Japanese students when they visit our school, participate in a school overseas trip to Japan and interact with international students from Japan studying English at the Union Institute of Languages in Springfield. All these experiences allow language learning to be real and relevant.

We believe that learning Japanese at Springfield Central State High is fun, engaging, challenging and relevant.
