Japanese Program Structure

The Japanese program is split into two separate categories which include:

  1. Junior Secondary ( Year 7 - Year 10)

  2. Senior Secondary ( Year 11 and Year 12)

Junior Secondary (Year 7 - 10)

In year 7 and 8, students are required to study languages for one semester. Depending on their class, they will be allocated to a language class either in semester one or semester two. In some special circumstances, some students may be eligible to be exempt from language studies.

After the completion of year 7 and 8, students are no longer required to continue with language studies.

In year 9 and 10, Japanese is an elective course that students may select if they wish to continue their studies in a language. The year 9 course is a semester course undertaken by students either in semester one or semester two.

In year 10, students elect to do a full year course in Japanese, in preparation for senior Japanese.

Senior Secondary (Year 11 and Year 12)

Senior Japanese is offered to students that wish to undertake a two year course in their final years of schooling. Senior Japanese is a board registered subject that contributes towards a student's overall position. Students undertaking language studies in senior have the added advantage of bonus points towards their university entrance.
